You can assign action items to team members

Version 0.9.0 ·

Each action item can have an owner from the team, and Linear gets the same assignee. Sign-in and Settings are clearer, and the retro board has a set of fixes from our own retros.

New features

  • Assign an action item to a team member

Each action item has a picker that lists the members of the team. The assignee shows on the item with their avatar, and other open boards show the change at once. The author of the item, the assignee, and team owners and admins can change it. On a team retro, a guest cannot own an action item.

  • Linear gets the same assignee

When the Linear connector is on, Looptro sends the assignee to the linked Linear issue, and sends each later change too. Looptro finds the member in Linear by their email address. If the member has no Linear account, Looptro does not change the assignee in Linear.

Improvements

  • Choose your Google or GitHub account when you sign in

Google and GitHub now show their account picker. Before, they used the account that was already signed in to the browser, so you could not change to a different one.

  • A provider problem returns you to the sign-in page

If a sign-in provider fails while you sign in, Looptro returns you to the sign-in page with a message that names the provider. Before, you saw an error page.

  • Sign in from a retro link

If you open a retro link while you are signed out, the page now offers to sign in or to create an account, and then returns you to the retro. Before, it offered only the guest form, so a retro that does not accept guests had no way in.

  • Settings has one section for your sign-in methods

Settings had two sections that listed the ways you sign in. There is now one, "Sign-in methods", and you unlink a provider there. When you set or change a passphrase, a checklist under the box shows which rules your passphrase meets.

  • Group names are easier to read

A group name now has its own line, above the count of posts and votes. A group with no name shows "Untitled group" to everyone.

  • Smaller changes to the retro board

Scrollbars and form controls follow the light or dark theme on every page. The box for a group name takes the colour of its column when you edit it. The new action item box has no Add button. Press Enter or click away to add the item, or press Escape to cancel.

  • The account deletion email has no cancel link

Nothing is deleted unless you use the confirmation link, so the cancel link did nothing that ignoring the email did not. If you get a deletion email that you did not ask for, ignore it.

  • Action items in Markdown put the owner and due date together

An action item line now reads "- [ ] Update the runbook (Alex, due 2026-06-01)". The copy button in the app and the MCP summary tool give the same text.

  • The privacy policy says how Looptro counts joins by country

When somebody joins a retro, Looptro finds the country of the request and adds one to a count for that country. Looptro does not keep the IP address for this count, and the count holds no name or identifier. The lookup runs on our own servers.

Security fixes

  • Sign-out clears your data from the browser tab low

After a sign-out, the tab kept your teams and retros in memory for a short time. If somebody else signed in on the same tab, they could see them. Looptro now clears that data when you sign out.

  • Looptro refuses passphrases that are known to be leaked low

The check against Have I Been Pwned was in the code but was off in production. It is on now. Only the first five characters of a hash of the passphrase leave Looptro, so the check never sees your passphrase.

  • The security contact file names the right address low

The file at app.looptro.dev/.well-known/security.txt tells security researchers where to report a problem. Its contact address was broken, so a report sent to it could not reach us. It now names security@looptro.dev.

Bug fixes

  • A wrong current passphrase no longer signs you out

If you typed your current passphrase wrong when you changed it, Looptro signed you out. That looked the same as a change that worked, but the passphrase stayed the same. Settings now tells you that the current passphrase is wrong.

  • Done marks clear when the retro moves on

Done marks stayed on the avatars after the host revealed the posts, and in some cases after the retro closed. They now clear when the phase changes, when the host reveals the posts, and when the retro closes.

  • Only team owners and admins see the host controls

Every member of a team retro saw the host menu, and the server then refused the change. Only team owners and admins see it now.

  • Tall dialogs scroll on a phone

The start-retro dialog ran off the bottom of a phone screen, so you could not reach the Start retro button. Tall dialogs now scroll.
